The twisted Serpents is a motif that appears in many ancient cultures. The staff of Hermes was entwined with two serpents. Associated with Protection and Medicine. This piece and the Green Man were my first cuts in wax, they have a common decorative knotwork panel on the reverse, based on a border pattern from the Book of Kells 800 AD. Solid Silver.
